The CruisePAD is a wireless remote interface to a PC or Network Server that allows remote access to system resources from anywhere in the workplace. CruisePAD uses Zenith Data Systems CruiseLAN wireless spread spectrum and frequency hopping LAN communication technology. It also implements a Novell IPX/SPX protocol stack to remotely communicate with a host PC.

1. To enter the CruisePAD Setup, select the Setup icon from the Hot Icons group.
2. Once in the CruisePAD Setup, the CruisePAD can be configured for any specific operating requirements.
3. The following options will be listed across the top of the screen inside of the Setup Program:
Host Or Server
To exit from the CruisePAD Setup and return to the Host computer, select the X icon on the top right corner of the screen. The CruisePAD will not exit Setup if the end user has not connected to a Host Computer.
Host (Single User)
The Host section appears when the CruisePAD is set for Single User Mode. This section allows the end user to select and connect to the Host Computers currently available.
Dim Host Screen, Lock Host Keyboard & Mouse
If the end user selects these options, the Host Computers screen will be blank and the Host will be exclusively controlled by the CruisePAD interface.
Lists the Groups available to the CruisePAD.
Lists all available Host Computers within the selected Group.
Connects or disconnects from the specified Host Computer.
Displays the most recent list of Hosts and Groups.
Server (MultiCruise User)
The Server section appears when the CruisePAD interface is set for Multi-User mode. This section allows the end user to select and connect to servers that are currently available.
Lists the available Server Domains.
Lists the available MultiCruise Servers within the selected server domain.
Connects or disconnects from the specified server.
Displays the most current list of servers and domains.
Two programmable Hot Keys allow the end user to program frequently used key commands. To configure the Hot Keys:
1. Select Hot Keys, then select which of them to program, either 1 or 2.
2. Next, type the key or key combination that is to be stored. Valid combinations are single keystrokes, Ctrl, Alt, and Shift key combinations.
3. When exiting from Setup, the Hot Key will then be programmed. The Hot Keys can be reprogrammed at any time.
Maintenance (Single User)
The single user maintenance screen has the following configuration options:
This button appears on this screen when the CruisePAD is operating in Single User Mode. Use this button to calibrate the accuracy of the screen and pen interface.
This command will reboot the Host Computer that the CruisePAD is currently connected to.
This command will update the software on the CruisePAD.
Use the wireless domain to logically separate any wireless network traffic. If the end user has configured the Host Computer to operate within a specified wireless domain, only select the domain that the Host is currently using.
For CruiseLAN or CruisePAD radios to communicate, they must use identical security ID settings.
Maintenance (MultiCruise User)
The following options will be displayed when the end user enters the Maintenance screen when the CruisePAD is set for MultiCruise Mode:
Set Maintenance Password
This button allows the end user to set password protection for the functions of the maintenance section.
Allows you to select either 802.2, 802.3, II, or SNAP for the frame type.
This allows the end user to choose which language they would prefer to use.
Switch the CruisePAD interface between Multi-User mode to Single-User mode. This can be done by tapping on the single user check box, and then have the end user follow the directions displayed on the CruisePAD.
This box will indicate if a maintenance password has been set.
From this screen is where the power management settings on the CruisePAD can be accessed. The following options are listed:
Sleep is a low power state that the CruisePAD interface will enter into after a predefined period of system inactivity, or by selecting the sleep Hot Icon. Sleep will turn off the display, but maintains the radio connection. Touching the screen or the external keyboard will wake the system up.
If the end user configures the CruisePAD to hibernate, it will enter hibernate mode after being in sleep mode for longer than 60 minutes, or by double tapping on the sleep Hot Icon. Hibernate uses almost no battery power and will turn off the radio connection. The end user will need to touch the screen to wake the system up.
The end user can adjust the brightness and contrast to best suit their viewing needs. For further video adjustments, the end user can change the palette by using the palette select located on the Hot Icons.
