PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The Z-STAR series uses a Cyrix 486SLC/e processor operating at 33 MHz. It has a 1K internal cache memory. The computers have a socket for an optional Cyrix 83S87 coprocessor. All models have 2MB of memory soldered to the main PCB and are expandable to 12MB total memory. The ZPD-4827-GT will ship with 2MB of memory standard. All other models will ship with 4MB of memory standard. I/O consists of one external serial port, one external parallel port, one external VGA port and one external PS/2-style (mouse only) port. External keyboards are not supported.

Also included is one PCMCIA version 2.01 type II slot. The video display on the monochrome models is a 9.5" VGA (640x480) LCD, 64 gray shades with simulscan. The color models use a 9.5" passive color Dual-Scan Super Twist Nematic (DSTN), VGA (640x480) LCD, 256 colors without simulscan. Phoenix BIOS with power saving features; standby and rest/resume is used. The FDD control uses a Winbond I/O controller. One 3.5" 1.44MB FDD drive and one 12.5 mm 80, 170 or 200MB IDE HDD provide secondary storage. BIOS supports standard IDE hard disk drive up to 500 MB. The keyboard is a Sejin 86 key keyboard with integrated J-Mouse pointing device. The main battery is a 14.4 VDC, 1700 mAH, Nickel Cadmium or 14.4 VDC, 2200 mAH, Nickel-Metal Hydride pack. The backup battery is a 4.8 VDC 120 mAH Nickel Cadmium battery.

The base unit footprint is 11.0" wide x 8.5" long x 1.9" high (monochrome) or 2.1" high (color). Base unit weight is 5.9 lbs. for the monochrome models and 6.5 lbs. for the color models.

Preloaded software includes MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Works (-KV models only), J-Mouse drivers/utilities, and PCMCIA drivers/utilities.
