PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Z-NOTE MX is based on the Pentium microprocessor. Hard drive sizes are 420MB, 540MB, and 810MB capacities. All models have 8MB of system memory soldered to the main board, and are expandable to 40MB. The LCD panels used are DSTN color, SVGA DSTN color, and SVGA TFT color. Standard video memory is 1MB.
Features include two Type II PCMCIA slots forming a single Type III slot, 16-bit MPC audio module, touchpad pointing device, two speakers, one serial port, one EPP/ECP enhanced parallel port, external video port, PS/2-compatible mouse/keyboard/keypad port, IR port (on select models), modular floppy drive, and modular AC adapter.

TECHNICAL NOTES
Issue #1:
Description:
Service center cannot clear a forgotten password. Typically a forgotten password can be cleared by grounding a solder pad on the main board, or by entering a master password. The Z-NOTE MX currently does not support provisions for clearing a forgotten password.
Response:
BIOS version 1.02A and higher supports the master password function.
Issue #2:
Description:
The hard drive has 44MB of space missing.
Response:
The Z-NOTE MXs save-to-disk feature requires that the hard drive is partitioned so 44MB of space is always available. The space on the partition is allocated in the following way: 40MB for conventional/extended memory, 1MB for video memory, and 3MB is reserved. This partition is hidden and is not accessible by the user.
Issue #3:
Description:
PC Tools identifies the mouse driver, but is unable to determine the number of buttons on any particular mouse. The Z-NOTE MX is reported as having three buttons, instead of two.
Response:
This issue is inherent in the PC Tools program.
Issue #4:
Description:
PC Tools recognizes that Windows is installed and running, but does not read the current version. On some Z-NOTE MX models, Windows for Workgroups 3.11 is installed, but PC Tools identifies the version as Windows 3.1 Enhanced.

Issue #5:
Description:
PC Tools recognizes peripherals but often misidentifies the devices. PC Tools may identify the PCMCIA slots as floppy disk drives, or removable Bernoulli drives.

Description:
Occasionally must press N twice when exiting the Z-NOTE MX power management utility.
Response:
This only happens when you press Fn+ESC twice to enter the power management utility.
