PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
This low-cost 486 computer system is available in three metal cabinets including a low_profile 3_slot with room for 3 mass storage devices (Europe only), a low_profile 4_slot with room for 4 mass storage devices (4x4), or a mini-tower. The system board includes a ZIF-socketed processor and all basic I/O interfaces for video (32-bit local bus video controller), serial port, bidirectional parallel port, PS/2-style mouse, floppy and hard drive. System performance can be enhanced through the use of 128K or 512K secondary cache (L2 write-back). Minimum memory is 4MB surface-mounted upgradable to 64MB. Minimum video memory is 1MB surface-mounted upgradable to 2MB. Multimedia configurations are supported using internal CD_ROM and audio card. Energy Star compliance is featured.

The permissible memory configurations on the main board are listed in the following table.

Note: To upgrade the system's memory to 64 MB, the onboard surface-mounted DRAM must be disabled by inserting a jumper-over J41(seeFigure4-1 on the main board.

Refer to "Chapter 5, Configuration" and update the extended memory field.

Cache Memory Upgrade

This computer comes with 8 KB of internal cache in the CPU. Secondary cache can be added to this computer by installing SRAM chips in sockets U35, U30, U24, U19 and U15.

When installing secondary cache, be sure to install the chip so that the notch on the top of the chip installs on the right side of the socket, pointing toward the J8 slot on the main board. Make sure that the chip is installed so that it bridges between sockets. (See the chip outlines on the main board for mounting locations.)
