PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The TurbosPort 386 is a 32-bit portable computer. It provides full AT-compatible capabilities in a small, light-weight package. In performance and power, the TurbosPort 386 most closely resembles the Z-3300 series computers. The video system uses an advanced CRT controller that maintains compatibility with the more common 6845. The system uses a low power 80386 microprocessor. Some other unique features are:

* A 25-row, 80-column, white, flat panel liquid crystal display with a pixel resolution of 640 x 400. The display uses a dual-tube fluorescent back light with an advanced video controller that is software switchable from LCD output to RGB output.

* Extension CGA monitor connector.

* One serial communications port (DB-9) and one parallel port (DB- 25).

* A real time clock.

* A fast-charge high-capacity 24 V Ni-Cad battery
(2.2 AHr rated) for portable operation.

* One 1.4 M, 3.5-inch floppy disk drive that is Read Write compatible with a 720 K drive.

* One 40 M (formatted) 3.5-inch hard disk drive,

* 2 M base memory; expandable to 3 M.

* Optional Hayes compatible, 24001"1200 baud modem.

* Optional Hayes 2400 baud AutoSync modem.

* One 110-volts power line adapter and an optional 240-volt power line adapter.

Chapter 1

Introduction

Step 1 0: Monitor Tests

In addition to the self-tests that run automatically each time the computer is powered up, there are a number of tests that may be run manually from the keyboard. Like the power-up tests, these tests are contained within the Monitor program. The main advantage to these tests is that they run continuously until they are stopped by the operator or a malfunction occurs. This is useful when testing for a problem that appears to be intermittent, time dependent, or the result of heat buildup. These tests are also useful in determining if a repair has corrected a previous problem.

In order to access the Monitor ROM internal tests you need to place the computer in the monitor mode. To do this, press the CTRL, ALT, and INS keys at the same
